We all know that 2020 has changed the world in many ways. The realms of business and education have certainly been among the most visibly affected. So many things are different now, and everyone has had to adapt to changes we never could have foreseen.

Business and educational institutions all over the world have had to wrestle with an unprecedented number of changes to policies and best practices. One example of this is how employees and students feel about touching shared surfaces, including printer control panels.

Touchless printing with mobile device

We all know how frequently printer interfaces are used in the office and on campus. The coronavirus pandemic has changed the way we think about these high-touch surfaces, and it’s critical that people are given flexible options.

We all want to do whatever we can to reasonably limit our exposure to risky surfaces and environments. It’s important that we at Pharos do our small part to give people options that make them feel more comfortable.

That’s why we are happy to offer touchless printing in both Uniprint and Blueprint Enterprise environments.

Our Sentry Print customers have been using this touchless printing workflow successfully all year via the cloud. Now, all Pharos customers can use the Pharos Print app to submit their print jobs and securely release them at any printer on their network, without having to touch the printer control panel.

It’s a simple and flexible workflow that can help ease anxiety and reduce risk. And, according to many students and employees, it’s actually fun to use!

It’s a simple, fast, and efficient secure printing solution that does not require any interaction with the printer control panel.

Whether you call it touchless printing or touch-free printing, or even contactless printing or zero-touch printing, what matters is that it’s a simple, fast, and efficient secure printing solution that does not require any interaction with the printer control panel.

Touchless printing via the Pharos Print app leverages Print Center and QR codes for user authentication. After a user submits a print job from their phone or workstation, they simply use the mobile app to scan a QR code affixed to a printer on the network. Their documents are printed immediately.

It is also simple from the administrative side. All you need to do is update your Uniprint or Blueprint environment, print out the QR code report from Print Center, and affix the labels onto your printers. Then direct employees or students to download the Pharos Print app in the Apple Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) Store and provide some basic instructions on how to connect to the Print Center on your system.
