Pharos is excited to share big updates with Pharos Cloud, the PrintOps platform proven to meet the scalability, security, and reliability requirements of global enterprises. The new release brings enhancements that support the needs of the modern workplace and provide admins with greater control over their print environment.
Support for Windows Protected Print and Windows on Arm devices
The modern workplace is evolving rapidly, driven by innovations like Microsoft’s Windows Protected Print (WPP) mode and Windows on Arm devices. Microsoft’s introduction of WPP promises a more secure, driverless print environment, while Microsoft’s introduction of Windows 11 on Arm workstations and tablets support advanced AI capabilities and offer advantages such as extended battery life.
The new Pharos Cloud release enables Secure Release printing and print tracking for users with Windows on Arm devices, or in print environments where Windows Protected Print is enabled.
Education Edition Enhancements
The new release adds new capabilities for Pharos Cloud Education Edition customers that help admins manage their environment and control the cost of student printing. New features include:
- Quota management: Admins can set print and copy limits to prevent abuse. Once users reach their limit, they can no longer print or copy.
- Shared accounts: Instead of setting a quota limit per individual, admins can set a limit to share/pool among all users assigned to the account.
- Display and adjust usage activity in Admin view: Admins can now view transaction history and make changes, like giving refunds or adjusting a user’s points.
Secure Release and Scan enhancements
We have also made several improvements to the Secure Release and Scan capabilities of Pharos Cloud.
- Search functionality has been added to Pharos Cloud’s integrated scanning. Users can now search for folders when scanning to OneDrive, SharePoint, or a network folder. No more digging to find the destination folder—just type it in the search bar and quickly locate it.
- IPv6 is now supported for Secure Release on HP and Lexmark devices to support enterprises implementing IPv6 only infrastructure.
These updates and more are all part of our mission to continue to make Pharos Cloud the PrintOps platform of choice for large enterprises—one that supports the evolving modern-day requirements, enhances security, improves user print experience, and gives admins the tools they need to stay in control.
