Pharos Joins AASHE in Effort to Reduce Paper Waste on Campus

Pharos is a Business Leader Sponsor of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) and we’re proud to announce that we have joined with AASHE and Root Solutions to reduce paper waste on college campuses. The program, called “Turning the Page on Campus Paper Use,” provides training, guidance and technology to help schools implement behavior-based paper reduction initiatives across their campus, starting with the 2018 spring semester.

Participating institutions received training and resources at the 2017 AASHE conference in October. At the end of the 2018 academic year, AASHE and its partners will help these organizations measure the impact of their campaigns and publish a guidebook of best practices and lessons learned for the higher education community.

Throughout the course of this program, Pharos is lending its support by providing free access to Beacon Analytics to participating institutions. Beacon will collect printing activity data across campus to establish an objective baseline upon which to measure progress at the end of the campaign.

Excessive printing “contributes to a range of environmental problems and also comes at a significant financial cost to colleges and universities,” said Meghan Fay Zahniser, AASHE’s Executive Director. Pharos is happy to lend our expertise and technology to help this initiative succeed.
