Pharos software protects your printing equipment from unauthorized use. In order to utilize a printer, copier, or multifunction device, users must authenticate themselves by swiping their campus card or entering their user ID. The system can be configured to require them to enter a password as well, for extra security.

Authentication in conjunction with Pharos Secure Release Here® provides document security. No job is printed until its owner is physically present at the device and has been authenticated.

For card-based authentication, Pharos supports magnetic stripe, proximity, bar code, and smart cards. Users can be authenticated against Microsoft Windows Active Directory, LDAP, campus card billing systems from vendors such as Blackboard, CBORD, and Heartland Payment Systems Campus Solutions, and the Pharos-internal database.
