Pharos software protects your printing equipment from unauthorized use. In order to use a printer, copier, or multifunction device, employees must authenticate themselves by swiping their ID card or entering their user ID. The system can be configured to require them to enter a password as well, for extra security.

Authentication in conjunction with Pharos Secure Release Here® provides document security. No jobs are printed until the person who submitted them is physically present at the device and has been authenticated. Documents go directly from the printer into the hands of their owners.

For card-based authentication, Pharos supports magnetic stripe, proximity, and bar code cards. Users can be authenticated against Microsoft Windows Active Directory, LDAP, and the Pharos-internal database.
