Uniprint 8.0 Hot Fix 12

Pre-install

This Hot Fix is compatible with the 8.0 release of Uniprint.

Installation

This Hot Fix applies to the Pharos Upgrader, and is only necessary when the Pharos Database has been upgraded manually (usually on a remote SQL Server). The Hot Fix should be applied before performing an upgrade of the Pharos Principal Server components (including the Pharos Database Server and the Pharos License Server).

Note that the Hot Fix is not required when upgrading the Pharos Database using the normal upgrade method (using the CD install/upgrade).

To apply this Hot Fix:

  1. Copy the entire contents of the Pharos 8.0 install CD to a local hard disk.
  2. Copy the Hot Fix Upgrade.exe executable to the \setup directory in the local copy of the install CD, overwriting the existing file.
  3. Perform the manual upgrade of the Pharos Database.
  4. Launch Setup.exe from the local copy of the install CD, and follow the steps in the install wizard to perform an upgrade of the Pharos Principal Server components.

After applying this update, the Upgrader's version number will be 8.0.4799. The Pharos Principal Server components themselves will be upgraded to version 8.0.4786 when the upgrade is run.

Details

This Hot Fix addresses the following issue:

  • When performing a manual upgrade of the Pharos Database, followed by an upgrade of the Pharos Principal Server components, some components would not be correctly installed, and the upgrade would fail.  This failure would not always be immediately obvious. The application of this Hot Fix ensures that the Pharos Principal Server components are correctly installed.

    If the upgrade has already been run against a manually upgraded Pharos Database, without this fix applied, the upgrade can be re-run on the Principal Server components using the Hot Fixed Upgrader. (Note - the Database Server and License Server entries in the Installed Components registry key must be edited back to their pre-upgrade versions before running the upgrade again. Contact Pharos Support for instructions on this process.)
