Uniprint 7.0 Hot Fix 3

Pre-install

This update to the Pharos External Device Interface (EDI) can be run on Uniprint 6.1 or later.

The EDI Server requires Microsoft® .NET framework 1.1 SP1 or later. Installers for the .NET framework are supplied with the Hot Fix package; however, it is a good idea to check www.microsoft.com in case a newer version is available.

Installation

This Hot Fix applies to both the old EDI Server and the new .NET EDI Server, and should be applied to any PC running either version of the EDI Server.

To apply this Hot Fix, copy the PharosEdiHotfixInstall.exe executable onto the EDI Server PC and run it.

After applying this update, the EDI's version number will be 7.1.3860.

Ininstall

The .NET EDI Server cannot be uninstalled using the Uniprint 6.1 or 7.0 uninstaller. To uninstall the .NET EDI Server, run the supplied PharosEdiHotfixUninstall.exe executable. Once the .NET EDI Server has been uninstalled, the old EDI Server can be re-installed.

Details

This update replaces the old Pharos EDI Server with a new version based on the .NET framework. While its functionality remains the same, the new EDI Server is now more stable and reliable.

Note: The new EDI Server now runs as part of IIS, so it no longer appears as a separate service in the Windows Services manager.

This Hot Fix also addresses an issue in the initial release of the .NET EDI Server. Where a Billing Gateway is used, users may be unable to log on to third party devices such as Pharos Omega. The application of this Hot Fix ensures that this does not happen.
